Recently, buyers kept arriving at an Oshawa pre-construction stacked-townhome launch, comparing floorplans, finishes and rebate math to decide whether ownership now felt achievable.
For eligible new homes, the temporary HST rebate could reduce purchase costs by up to $130K, helping some Oshawa shoppers conclude the numbers worked.
Unlike the earlier version limited to first-time buyers, the year-long measure opened to all homebuyers, with full eligibility for homes priced up to $1.5M.
At the Oshawa development, stacked townhomes started at ~$400K, and 50 of 100 units sold within a week and a half, beating expectations.
This Oshawa low-rise project also fit the rebate timeline better, with late-2027 closings expected because wood-frame construction typically moves faster than concrete high-rises.
